We want to make space for everyone who wants to learn European Portuguese, especially those who struggle in traditional language learning settings. Our goal is to help immigrants feel more integrated in their new home.

Portuguese Games Night: Exploring Expressions with @notmiguelagain at Absent
In Portuguese, we don't say that a content creator is awesome, we say "@notmiguelagain é BRUTAL"... and we think that's beautiful! We are teaming up with the biggest fan of cool Portuguese expressions, Miguel Goncalves, to bring you a special event all about expressing yourself - with gusto (or as one might say in Portuguese, com pica!). We will be geeking out hard on all of the best ways to describe literally any situation (or shituation, as is often the case), and you will leave with a belly full of laughs, a mind blown, and a deeper appreciation for this weird and wonderful language. What to expect: Fun games based on Portuguese expressions, to help you learn without trying, or even noticing!An uplifting atmosphere where you can practice pronunciation, reading, and speakingNew ways to express yourself in Portuguese Who is this for? All levels of Portuguese learners, from first steps to fluent, all are welcome!Portuguese natives who love their language and want to join us to celebrate it! And, ironically, we are hosting this event in the least online place ever - Absent. Absent is Lisbon's answer to our social media overwhelm: a place where you can set your phone aside and focus on connecting with yourself and others. About Portuguese and Play Portuguese and Play is the brain and love child of Astrid Lillie, a Portuguese language learner herself. Our goal is to make learning Portuguese more playful and fun, as we believe that this is a way to unlock the virtuous cycle with respect to language learning.
